The precast anchored abutment wall allows shorter abutments and
wingwalls to be set on relatively small foundations very quickly. For
wall heights less than 20 feet, the patented anchor system resists
overturning loads, so the foundation may be designed strictly for
bearing loads. This HITEC-reviewed technology has been used on thousands
of CON/SPAN bridge projects as a popular wingwall option.
In addition to the inherent advantages of precast such as quality
control, durability and life cycle costs, the precasting process allows
the easy application of a variety of aesthetic and architectural facade
treatments. Each abutment is designed site-specific to meet a range of
conditions for height, loading and alignment.
