2023 Stormwater Design Competition

Congratulations to our winning teams

Details on the 2024 competition will be released in June 2024.

About the Challenge

Stormwater regulations are increasingly calling for greater levels of storage and treatment. In addition, land space in urban environments is increasingly becoming scarcer. This makes the job of civil engineers more complex, as they must meet local stormwater regulations within tight footprints while minimizing the cost to their clients. To accomplish this, many engineers incorporate manufactured treatment devices into their designs.
Contech’s Urban Stormwater Design Competition is a team competition designed to mimic a real-world engineering project by designing a stormwater management system using various Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) at a fictitious urban development to meet regulatory requirements.

Who is Eligible?

Participants must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited college or university in the United States. Each team must include a minimum of two students and a maximum of 5 students. All team members must be from the same academic institution. Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged. Relevant disciplines include, but are not limited to civil engineering, landscape architecture, and environmental sciences, among others.
