Contech Announces Strategic Partnership with GEOfabrics Limited
July 26, 2016

West Chester, OH (August 26, 2016) – Contech Engineered Solutions, one of North America’s leading site solutions companies, and GEOfabrics Limited, a global innovator in geocomposite products, announced today a strategic partnership. This partnership better positions Contech to provide a complete product portfolio and solutions for the rail industry throughout the United States. Contech will begin promoting and selling Tracktex – a micro-porous filter sandwiched between two geotextile protectors which, when deployed at the base of ballast, prevents rain water penetrating through to the underlying formation but allows upward movement of water while filtering any fine soil particles.

Tom Roskams, International Development Manager for GEOfabrics, Ltd., stated, “We look forward to our partnership with Contech and the opportunities made available there. Tracktex has demonstrated its ability to extend the maintenance interval by up to 25 times on track sections previously suffering from sub grade pumping. This delivers substantial long term cost savings for the operator with a ‘value engineered’ and proven system.”

Geosynthetics have been employed to perform a number of functions in track construction and rehabilitation for almost half a century. When properly specified and installed, the use of geosynthetics has been proven to significantly enhance the performance of the trackbed in a number of ways, often reducing maintenance costs and increasing the lifetime of the design.

“We are excited to partner with GEOfabrics,” Don Herbert, Director for the Rail Markets at Contech. “This expansion of the Contech product portfolio will strengthen our footprint in the rail market, and provide a key solution for railways looking to enhance the performance of their trackbeds and increase the service life design.”

Bob Kerr, Vice President of Plastics for Contech added, “At Contech, we are continually seeking to identify or develop innovative products which allow our customers to achieve more with less while protecting life, property and the environment.  Tracktex meets these objectives exceedingly well, and we are proud to partner with GEOfabrics to bring this game changing product to the North American Rail market.”
